November 21, 2015November 21, 2015 / Claire Fuller / 4 Comments

A lovely book blogger called Poppy asked me to write a post for her website about some novellas that I love. There’s also the chance to win three novellas from Peirene Press. Poppy is hosting other people’s novella choices as well as mine, so make sure you take a look at them all.

I have written six novels: Hunger and Thirst, The Memory of Animals, Our Endless Numbered Days, Swimming Lessons, Bitter Orange, Unsettled Ground. Click 'About' in the top menu to find out more.

Books for Christmas! Who doesn’t love a book-shaped present? If you’re looking for a gift for a friend or family member (or even yourself) you can choose from any of my six novels including Unsettled Ground, and my latest, Hunger and Thirst. This is the second of my videos about proof that I’ve been sent and so here are four more coming from Kate Collins, Suzie Miller, Eleanor Davies, and Rebecca Winterich-Knox. This is the first of two videos about proofs that I have been sent from publishers. All these books will be published in the coming months, so let me know which ones sound most interesting and if there are any here that you are definitely going to pre-order. Authors love pre-orders! I loved Winter Song by @rebecaleemorales, for its attention to detail, for its characterisation, for its setting and story. And also for Rebecca Lee Morales’ writing. It’s a literary mystery - a lovely slow build to some brilliant surprises. Very likely to be on my reads of the year. Throw Back Thursday to 2021 when my novel, Unsettled Ground was longlisted (and then shortlisted) for @womensprize. This is what I wrote in my diary: One Yellow Eye by @leighauthor is a crazy, funny, sad, madcap zombie romp. There has been a zombie outbreak in London and about 2000 people died, or became the undead, including Kesta’s husband Tim. But what no one else knows is that Kesta is keeping Tim chained to the radiator in their spare room while Kesta gets a job at a secret government lab that’s searching for a cure. Just go with the ridiculous science and the lack of security security, and I’ll guarantee you great fun. Some final events for 2026: Doesn’t everyone love coming-of-age stories? A period we’ve all been through, one of great change and many firsts. First kiss, first love, first time we realise that everyone is fallible including ourselves. Here are nine coming-of-age novels that I’ve loved. Visit my website to find out what each of them are about and why I loved them: clairefuller.co.uk A fantastic event @turner_sims last night talking about music and writing, and Hunger and Thirst. It’s the most beautiful venue. We were treated to @henryaylingguitarist playing the piano music that he wrote for the audio book (the video is him practicing on the concert hall’s Steinway before the event), as well as two guitar & voice pieces. Thanks to the brilliant @writercaroleburns for the questions and to everyone who came. (And thanks @ali_shaw1 for the pictures.)
